This video tells the story of eccentric authoress Margaret Cavendish, Duchess of Newcastle (1623-1673). She was a great supporter of the Royalist side in the English Civil War and went into exile with Queen Henrietta Maria. Her extraordinary life gives us an entrée into the Stuart court, pre and post-Restoration. We also learn about Cavendish's Utopian romance, the "Blazing New World" and her interest in Natural Philosophy (early modern science).
