Simple Guideline Child Support Calculation

Learn to perform a simple guideline child support calculation for a California family law case using the State guideline child support calculator.

Jessica Ryan Keeney is licensed to practice law in the State of California. She is the Department of Child Support Services (aka DCSS) attorney for two small, rural California counties. She has been practicing family law since December of 2009 when she was sworn in as an attorney in California. Before that she worked as a law student for a family law attorney starting in the end of her second year of law school until she graduated from law school (it was a four year law school program).

This video will explain how to do a simple guideline child support calculation for a family law case in a California court.

This calculation uses the State’s free guideline calculator located at https://childsupport.ca.gov/guideline... .

This calculator will look a little bit different than the calculator used by the Department of Child Support Services and it will look a lot different than the calculators most attorneys use. However, this calculator is free and it has the same functions that the Department of Child Support Services is using when they make calculations in their cases and this calculator must be used in IV-D court rooms (courtrooms hearing Department of Child Support Services cases).
