This isn’t just maintenance—it’s a ritual that deepens the character of the canvas, enriches the patina, and reinforces the waterproof barrier that keeps your essentials dry. ​

What’s Inside the box: ​We offer Kanken waterproof wax which is a blend of natural beeswax and paraffin, formulated specifically for heavy-duty 22oz waxed canvas and leather. A ​stiff bristle detail brush is included for a deep-penetrating spread without wasting product. Wax coating your bag helps to restore the “beading” effect that causes water to roll off instantly. ​It also helps prevent the canvas from becoming brittle or fraying over time giving the fibers longevity.

​How to Perform the Ritual: ​

Clean: Use the brush supplied to clear away dust and dry debris. ​

Option 1: Rub the wax bar directly into the canvas in circular motions, focusing on seams and high-wear areas. ​Use a hairdryer or heat gun on a low setting to melt the wax into the fibers until the surface looks wet. ​Wax melts at approximately 55°C to 60°C or 131°F to 140°F.Let the bag sit in a cool, dry place for 24 hours to cure. ​

Option 2: Using a double boil technique, reduce the wax to a liquid and apply using the brush directly onto the canvas focusing on seams and high-wear areas. ​This technique can ensure the wax penetrates deeply into the weave. Use a hairdryer or heat gun on a low setting to melt the wax into the fibers until the surface looks wet. ​Wax melts at approximately 55°C to 60°C or 131°F to 140°F. Let the bag sit in a cool, dry place for 24 hours to cure. ​

​Pro Tip: For a “Blackout” look on older bags, apply a double layer of wax and heat-set twice. This creates a darker, rugged, high-sheen finish that mimics vintage British trials gear. ​
