Originally a drovers path but upgraded by General Wade in 1731 to allow troops to travel through the highlands to quash the uprisings.
It's a 51 mile there and back trip, but can be shortened by parking at Garva bridge.
The pass rises to 770 meters so approaching from either side is challenging ... with a gradual, then a sharp climb up the zig zag from Laggan, or a long steady climb from Fort Augustus ... the views are stunning and constantly changing around each bend.
A challenging but enjoyable cycle.
This route is very suitable for Mountain Bikes, eMTB's and Gravel Bikes too.
