This video presents the fundamental theories of hydrostatics of floating offshore structures. Hydrostatics constitutes an essential branch within fluid mechanics that studies fluid behavior at rest. In general, for a partially submerged body of arbitrary shape, subject to arbitrary large inclination angles, it is necessary to adopt a fundamental approach, which is integrating the pressure distribution on the submerged area, to estimate all the necessary hydrostatic characteristics.
In this video, the following topics are covered:
01:23 - Principal ship dimensions
18:18 - Basic ship hydrostatics
01:02:12 - Numerical integration in naval architecture
01:08:14 - Hydrostatic curves
01:14:07 - Statical stability at large angles of heel
01:30:17 - Simple models of stability
02:07:10 - Weight and trim calculations
02:20:32 - Flooding and damage condition
02:43:08 - The inclining experiment
02:46:21 - Static stability of floating wind turbines
