Gucci’s Spring-Summer 1998 collection, designed by Tom Ford, embraced a softer, more seductive approach to luxury womenswear. The runway featured knee-length or longer skirts paired with crocodile-look jackets, low-slung pants secured with thin leather straps, and transparent, body-hugging evening dresses with high collars and long tapering sleeves. Glittering black underwear with delicate straps was layered under tailored pieces, while twin-sets and matt-finish skirts emphasized refined silhouettes.

The palette mixed iridescent plums, browns, and reds with feminine powder blues and silvery lavenders. Coats in pink and sky blue with wide belts, tiny crocodile-finish bags, and squared, low-heeled shoes completed the elegant yet approachable aesthetic. Models sported minimal makeup and swept-back hair, presenting a look described by Ford as “sexy but elegant” and “easier to wear and more adapted for a normal woman.”
