My 1st generation Westinghouse Hybrid bell that I recently completed an entire in depth restoration on.
This bell was in mediocre shape when I received it. Almost all the hardware was seized and needed to be drilled out. Corrosion and contaminants were everywhere.
I also refurbished the pulse relay circuit housed inside the white box and replaced all ‘wearable’ components which degrade over time, such as electrolytic capacitors, 555 Timer IC’s, and the transistors. The two timing capacitors are polyester film variants, which essentially last indefinitely if used within their rating. Both measured fine spec wise, and were retained. This circuit is what controls the a vertical up-down pulsating motion of the solenoid/striker assembly.
Essentially, this bell is now nearly the equivalent to factory brand new. It is very loud and has an excellent consistent beat.
