0:00 I. Prologo e Introito
15:19 II. Pezzo giocoso
24:33 III. Pezzo serioso
47:37 IV. All' Italiana
57:27 Cadenza
59:32 V. Cantico
This took way longer that I expected it to. It was worth it tho, there's yet to be a full 2-piano reduction on youtube so I thought I'd upload it.
This absolute gargantuan concerto isn't talked about as much as it should be. It is in my opinion one of the biggest pianistic accomplishments ever. Nobody has attempted what Busoni had, the sheer difficulty and length of the concerto, consisting of 5 movements and the use of a male choir in the final movement is absolutely astonishing. The piano part has to sometimes be arranged so that it's playable for the pianist, as can be noticed in a few sections here played by Gerstein.
The concerto was written between 1902-1904 and it consists of 5 movements: I, III and V are represented respectively by Graeco-Roman, Egyptian and Babylonian architecture; II and IV by fantasy in nature.
