Elscint supplies 9 feeding systems to a major robot manufacturer
Elscint recently manufactured 9 complete feeding systems for a major robot manufacturer. The parts to be fed were plastic clips of various sizes and metal inserts. Each system consisted of a vibratory bowl feeder having two outlets, a linear vibrator, again with two outlets with a pneumatic singulation with separate cylinders to singulate the parts for pick up. Sensors were also provided for the singulation so that the plastic clips were kept ready for pick up, once the first set of 2 clips was lifted. There being two outlets, proper overflow was provided to ensure that in case any of the tracks was full, the excess clips fell back into the bowl. Further a sensor was provided on the slower moving track so that the bowl feeder could be switched off, once both the tracks were full. There were a total of 5 types of clips and one type of metal insert for which the 9 bowl feeders were used (some clips required multiple bowl feeders). The speed required was 40 parts per minute per outlet. Elscint could achieve a speed of 60 parts per minute per outlet with singulation and 100 parts per minute per outlet without singulation. A low level sensor was also provided with a flap arrangement to provide signal once the bowl was empty. Each of the equipment was supplied with a mounting stand. The bowls were made of Cast Aluminium and the tooling was made of stainless steel and coated with Elscinthane PU coating. A particular centre distance too was required to be maintained between the two outlets.
You can watch the video of one of the clip feeders here and of one of the metal inserts.
All the bowl feeders were completed within the committed delivery time and supplied 2 every week to the customer.
