Lymphedema Treatment and Therapy

Treatment for lymphedema typically includes physical therapy and wrapping garments. Unfortunately, this type of lymphedema therapy does not always improve the disease.

The plastic and reconstructive surgeons at Fox Chase Cancer Center offer two surgical options to patients for whom conventional lymphedema treatment has not relieved pain and swelling.

For patients who qualify for the procedures, a Vascularized Lymph Node Transfer (VLNT) and Lymphovenous Bypass (LVBP) can improve chronic lymphedema.

No other cancer center in the region offers this procedure.
