The Best Way to Swing, Part 2 -How to Control the Clubface!

This is Part 2 of what I believe is the best way to swing a golf club — and today we cover one of the most misunderstood concepts in the entire golf swing: Rate of Closure.
In Part 1, we talked about playing closed and why a shut clubface does NOT mean hooks. In fact, a closed-face + rotation swing often removes the left-miss entirely. You can’t close a closed door — but you can slam an open one shut.
Today’s video explains how golfers control the face without flipping, timing, or manipulating the club through impact. The answer is rate of closure, which is dictated by one thing above all else:
Whether the club passes your chest — and when.
In this video I break down:
• What Rate of Closure actually means
• Why open-face players fight hooks, wipes, and two-way misses
• How keeping the club on the side of your body lowers face rotation
• Why bent-arm + side-arm delivery increases compression and shaft lean
• How elite players keep the club from racing past their chest
• Why radius length changes ball flight, height, and strike quality
• How low-closure swings create consistency under pressure
• Why Charlie Woods’ impact shocked me
• How to train low Rate of Closure with small “delivery → rotate” shots
• Why rotation alone fails unless THIS concept is understood first
If you’ve struggled with snap-hooks, left-misses, inconsistency, or clubface timing — this concept changes everything. Rate of closure gives you face control, ball control, and shot control without manipulation.
Next up: Part 3 — Rotation + Drills.
This is the piece that ties the entire system together.
