This is the story of the last of the wars in the eighteenth century between Britain and France for control of North America: the long standing and deep-rooted animosity between the two countries made this final and dramatic confrontation inevitable. The French Indian Wars are best remembered for the battle of Quebec, where Wolfe’s brilliant, daring leadership and disciplined British musket fire routed the French during a short but brutal battle. Wolfe himself was shot and killed; he did not live to see Quebec surrender on September 18th, or the British take control of Canada.
