If you are running out of hot water more quickly than before, it may be the same issue I had. We used to have 15 minutes of hot water but now the water is pretty cold after just 5 minutes. I swapped out the top heating exchange element in our electric water heater and it is like new. It costs less than $40 and is a simple DIY project in under an hour.
