Explore the Majestic 4000 Islands (Si Phan Don) in Laos: Waterfalls, Islands & Spectacular Views

Must-see attractions include Somphamit and Liphi Falls, where a modest entry fee of just 2 USD (35,000 Kip) offers access to incredible views and relaxing spots overlooking the Mekong. On the eastern side of Don Khon Island, explore Khone Pha Soy Falls—an off-the-beaten-path site accessible viaGoogle Maps and a bit of exploring. Here, you can cross a thrilling suspension bridge over a raging tributary with some missing planks, making for an adrenaline-pumping experience.

Finally, visit Khonephapeng Waterfall, the largest in the archipelago, best viewed from the mainland near the Cambodian border. With multiple viewing platforms, the most spectacular is the elevated riverside trail that offers a direct, unobstructed view of the roaring falls. An entrance fee applies, but witnessing the full flow of Khonephapheng is well worth the cost.
