The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted individuals and society in many ways. As we transition out of the pandemic, we need to think about how we view and process health data and what we can learn for future public health events. Health data collection and restoration (especially data on diagnosis, race/ethnicity, age, geo location, gender) are critical not only to analyze and understand the impact of COVID-19 across our community and the globe but also to respond to the public appropriately, inform our health care system to allocate resources and plan for the future.
This series explores the topic of health data in relation to the privacy and access concerns and how it impacts public and individual health. This discussion is part of a public series connected to Here We Code. Here We Code is a campaign to position Nova Scotia as one of Canada’s top digital ecosystems, celebrating our success stories and showcasing how digital is impacting the world around us. Guest speakers include Carla Heggie, Dr. Finlay Maguire, and Dr. Samuel Stewart.
