Bangladesh News: Ex-Indian Diplomat Backs Sheikh Hasina, Slams Yunus Govt | Bangladesh Violence

Bangladesh is facing renewed political and security turmoil as a former Indian diplomat has publicly backed ex-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s claims of worsening law and order under the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government.
The remarks come amid growing violence, protests, and concerns over governance following the killing of student leader Sharif Osman Hadi.

Speaking on recent developments, the former diplomat said facts on the ground support Hasina’s assertion that lawlessness has increased since her removal from power.

He pointed to unresolved criminal investigations, conflicting official statements, and rising attacks on minorities as signs of administrative failure. The diplomat also criticised allegations made against India, calling them unsubstantiated and damaging to bilateral relations.

Sheikh Hasina has accused the Yunus government of lacking democratic legitimacy and failing to control extremist elements. She has also rejected calls for her extradition, describing them as politically motivated.

According to Hasina, continued instability in Bangladesh risks harming regional peace and undermining long-standing ties with neighbouring countries, including India.

The Yunus-led interim administration maintains it is acting within constitutional limits as it prepares the country for upcoming elections. However, analysts warn that escalating violence and political polarisation could derail Bangladesh’s democratic process.
