3 Months After Setting Up a Patio Pond | Preparing an Outdoor Medaka Pond for Winter

In this video, I share the seasonal changes of a small outdoor medaka pond in my garden,
from autumn through early winter in Japan.

You’ll see how medaka (Japanese ricefish) and aquatic plants respond to dropping temperatures,
large day–night temperature differences, and heavy rain.
I also show real observations of medaka health issues,
including clamped fins and weight loss, and how I treated them using salt and methylene blue.

As winter approaches, spawning stops, feeding is reduced,
and both fish activity and plant growth gradually slow down.
I also demonstrate winter preparation, water changes, overflow prevention,
and how I manage aquatic plants like Amazon frogbit, Rotala, Ludwigia, and Bacopa outdoors.

This video is intended as a real-life record and reference for anyone keeping medaka outdoors,
especially those interested in seasonal pond management, overwintering medaka,
and observing fish behavior naturally.
