U.S. President Donald Trump expressed concern on Wednesday (December 10) that Ukraine had not had an election in a long time, putting additional pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump said he had spoken with the leaders of France, Germany and the United Kingdom about Ukraine “in pretty strong words,” adding that the United States was no longer spending money directly on Kyiv but instead selling weapons to NATO allies that then supplied Ukraine. He said European partners were urging a meeting in Europe over the weekend involving both Zelenskyy and the United States, but he would decide whether to attend only after receiving “answers” from them.
