I would say we are approximately half way through the renovation process for our home in Amsterdam, and so I thought now would be a good time to share Part 1 of our story.
Some of it has been easy, most of it has been really hard, but I am learning so much to be able to share with you once this is all done, because how I wish that I had a video to watch before getting into this ordeal.
If you’re going through something similar, then here are my helpful notes so far:
Home by Me app and website is an excellent resource for figuring out floor plans and structural changes to your home.
Ekelhoff Kuchen in Germany: https://kuechen-ekelhoff.de/ - ask for Michael Voet and please mention my name :)
Bathroom places to look at:
Tiles - Sanisale, Italian Gres (https://www.italiangres.com/en/)
Fittings: X2O, Maxaro, Sanitairwinkel, Bol.com
Lighting: Westwing, Lampen24
Flooring: Bo Parket (https://www.boparket.nl/). If you use Bo Parket, then INSIST on them visiting your house to quote!
If you need to place a bulky waste container outside your property, then use this to apply for a permit from the Gemeente: amsterdam.nl/ondernemen/vergunningen/wevos/overzicht/object-neerzetten/
Chapters:
00:00 Intro
02:02 The beginning of the renovation
04:18 Our ambitions and why
05:55 Kitchen - Ekelhoff, Germany (my top recommendation)
07:23 Flooring - underfloor heating & PVC
08:44 Bathroom and toilet
