1063 Hp Mercedes-AMG One - The F1 V6 Engined Hybrid Hypercar in Action at Goodwood FOS

At the latest Goodwood Festival of Speed (FOS) editions in 2022 and 2023, we enjoyed filming the dynamic world public debut of the Mercedes-AMG One and a second example in matte black. In its design, this hypercar was immediately based on the technological experience accumulated in Formula 1. The main engine, appropriately modified, is a 1.6-litre turbo V6, the same unit equipped the Mercedes-AMG F1 single-seaters from 2014 to 2016. Indeed, the reliability, consumption, and all those parameters that have allowed the engine to equip a car for road use have been carefully studied. This resulted in a very long gestation period for the vehicle. The longitudinal engine develops 574 hp at 9,000 rpm and is mounted centrally. The hybrid hypercar also has four electric motors. The first 120 kW (MGU-K) is coupled to the engine and generates electricity by recovering energy during braking. The second 90 kW (MGU-H) eliminates turbocharger lag and improves throttle response. This occurs by keeping the turbine constantly rotating even when there is a drop in exhaust gas pressure at low engine speeds. The other two 120 kW electric motors are positioned on the front axle, thus allowing the car to have all-wheel drive. The combined power of the internal combustion engine and the electric one is equivalent to 1063 HP and is moved by a seven-speed semi-automatic single-clutch gearbox. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes place in 2.9", going from 0 to 200 km/h in 7" and from 0 to 300 km/h in 15.6" with an electronically self-limited maximum speed of 352 km/h. Also interesting to note is the construction of this hypercar, which has a chassis and bodywork made entirely of carbon fibre. The wheel rims are made of aluminium alloy and carbon fibre, and self-ventilating carbon-ceramic discs are on the four wheels. Great care has gone into the aerodynamic package with the variable rake rear wing, large air intakes throughout and a roof-mounted air scoop to channel fresh air to the engine in true racing car style. Nelle ultime edizioni del Goodwood Festival of Speed (FOS) del 2022 e 2023, abbiamo avuto il piacere di filmare il debutto mondiale dinamico al pubblico della Mercedes-AMG One e successivamente di un secondo esemplare di colore nero opaco. Questa hypercar, nella progettazione, sin da subito si è basata sull'esperienza tecnologica accumulata in Formula 1. Il propulsore termico, opportunamente modificato, è un V6 da 1.6-Litri turbo, stessa unità che ha equipaggiato le monoposto Mercedes-AMG F1 dal 2014 al 2016. Certamente l'affidabilità, i consumi e tutti quei parametri che hanno permesso al propulsore di poter equipaggiare una vettura per uso stradale sono stati studiati accuratamente. Questo ha comportato una gestazione della vettura molto lunga. Il motore longitudinale sviluppa 574 hp a 9.000 giri/min ed è montato in posizione centrale. Essendo una hypercar ibrida troviamo anche quattro motori elettrici. Il primo da 120 kW (MGU-K) è accoppiato al motore e serve a generare elettricità mediante il recupero di energia nelle frenata. Il secondo da 90 kW (MGU-H) serve ad eliminare il ritardo del turbocompressore e migliorare la risposta all'acceleratore. Questo avviene mantenendo la turbina sempre in rotazione anche nei momenti in cui c'è un calo della pressione dei gas di scarico a bassi giri del motore. Gli altri due motori elettrici da 120 kW sono posizionati sull'asse anteriore permettendo quindi all'auto di avere la trazione integrale. La potenza combinata del motore termico e di quelli elettrici equivale a 1063 Hp e viene mossa da un cambio semi-automatico a frizione singola dotato di 7 rapporti. L'accelerazione da 0 a 100 Km/h avviene in 2,9”, si passa da 0 a 200 Km/h in 7” e da 0 a 300 Km/h in 15,6” con una velocità massima autolimitata elettronicamente di 352 km/h. Interessante notare anche la costruzione di questa hypercar dotata di telaio e carrozzeria realizzati interamente in fibra di carbonio. I cerchi ruota sono realizzati in lega di alluminio e fibra di carbonio e sono presenti dischi autoventilanti in carboceramica sulle quattro ruote. Grande cura riposta nel pacchetto aerodinamico con l'ala posteriore ad inclinazione variabile, grosse prese d'aria ovunque e l'utilizzo di un'air scoop montata sul tetto per convogliare aria fresca al motore, in vero stile auto da corsa.
