The Tabanas is a large horsefly, similar to our marchflies, and just as large in size. So, the Tabanas fly patterns actually works in imitating large moth and caddis flies as well.
This week's video is the Tabanas fly pattern which is a parachute style sedge or caddis. A request from one of our viewers, it was fun to revisit this pattern after not tying one for a few years, and as such, bringing a little bit of Australiana to it. The result: my Tabanas fly is a great imitation for the Bogong moths that big brown trout go wild for in Australia. But it will work well in a range of caddis and hopper situations too. All the materials required for this pattern and so many more can be found in the Troutlore Fly Tying Store at : https://www.troutlore.com.au
