Via Claudia Augusta Cycle Tour | Ep 8 | Lake Garda to Verona and Villafranca di Verona

After a few days off the bikes, we're back to continue from Lake Garda along the Via Claudia Augusta Cycle route. It's just Frank and Daphne now as our friend Nancy's time with us ended at Lake Garda.
The fine mountain scenery continues till just north of Verona. Excellent pathways carry us along the Adige River through more vineyards and pretty villages. We spend a few hours touring the city of Verona with all it's beautiful buildings and piazzas and especially its Roman amphitheatre.

South of Verona, the scenery is less spectacular as we leave the mountains and enter the vast plains of Northern Italy, but we get to see fields of vegetables and more vineyards along mostly quiet roads. We finish this episode in a delightful town - Villafranca di Verona - which pleasantly surprised us with its laid-back vibe and interesting history.
