Mount Batur is an active volcano located at the center of two concentric calderas.
The caldera contains an active, 700-meter-tall stratovolcano rising above the surface of Lake Batur.
The first documented eruption of Batur was in 1804, and it has been frequently active since then, most recently in 2000.
According to the Hindu belief, Mount Batur is one of the sacred mountains in Bali. it stands at 1717 above sea level.
So this was our first Volcano trek and wow! What an experience this was!
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!
The hike up was brilliant, beautiful views all the way. You have 2 options. Shorter and steeper or longer but not as steep.
So id say anyone can do it!
Most people come to Bali and do this as a sunrise trek. We decided to do this as a sunset trek, as we hear how busy the sunset trek is. This was the best choice we made, as there were only 2 other couples on the mountain with us.
Not to mention for the sunrise trek you have to leave your hotel at 1:30am!
You will not regret making the effort to experience this!
