✨ Why we celebrate Chhatar Jatra?
Chhatar Jatra is one of the most vibrant and spiritual festivals of Western Odisha, celebrated during Durga Puja (Ashwina month). The symbolic “Chhatar” (umbrella) of Maa Manikeswari is carried from the temple to Jenakhala for tantric rituals, and then returned in a grand procession with thousands of devotees, folk music like Ghumura, and offerings of faith.

🌺 About Maa Manikeswari
Maa Manikeswari is regarded as the protector and royal deity of Kalahandi, worshipped for strength, prosperity, and protection. Her worship beautifully blends tribal traditions and Hindu rituals, making her one of the most unique goddesses of Odisha.
