6-year results of CLL14: venetoclax-obinutuzumab for previously untreated CLL

In this presentation Othman Al-Sawaf, MD, University Hospital of Cologne, Cologne, Germany, discusses the CLL14 study (NCT02242942), a pioneering investigation into the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) with venetoclax-obinutuzumab (Ven-Obi). Results demonstrated sustained efficacy and safety, establishing Ven-Obi as a preferred therapy option for CLL patients, including those with coexisting conditions. After a median follow-up of 76.4 months, Ven-Obi exhibited superior progression-free survival (PFS) compared to chlorambucil-obinutuzumab (Clb-Obi). The study also revealed that Ven-Obi led to a significantly longer time to next treatment (TTNT) compared to Clb-Obi. These positive outcomes were observed across all risk groups, including patients with high-risk CLL characteristics. The study reported a trend towards a benefit in overall survival (OS) in patients treated with Ven-Obi. No new safety signals were observed during the study. These data provide compelling evidence of the long-term benefits of Ven-Obi in CLL treatment, including high-risk patients.
