The Original Slick Wheelie Motorcycle Trailer Unboxing and Review - Updated Instructions

Update:

I made this video when first obtaining the Original Slick Wheelie Motorcycle Trailer. Since making this video, I've learned how to work out all the kinks and have had better trailing experiences trailing even the heaviest bikes like my Victory Vision and the 990 lb Honda Goldwing.


Tips:

*Use two people securing the bike for travel, but a second person is not needed.

*Secure tire strap through front wheel and tighten to secure the wheel inside of the wheel channel.

*Place Tie Down Straps on handle bars or triple tree before lifting, BUT DO NOT TIGHTEN. LEAVE SLACK until after raising bike to trailing postion. THEN TIGHTEN STRAPS.

*Use ample amount of WD-40 or comparable Lube to silence the crank squeal and ease the task of cranking.

*Double check to make sure the bike is secure and standing straight and centered before trailing.

*Take a test drive before starting your main drive.

Here at Buke's World, we've Unboxed The Original Slick Wheelie Motorcycle Trailer for review.

Let's cut to the chase. We tested the slick wheelie with a trial run. It actually trailered fine through the NYC streets, but not without concern.

The CON's:

#1 The Heart Attack When Cornering:
Going straight gave no reason for worry, but when making any turns, the bike would lean so far that we cringed with fear of it hitting the ground, although it didn't.
We tested the Slick Wheelie with a Harley Davidson Breakout that weighs about 5-600 lbs at most... Even though the Slick Wheelie is rated for 1,000 lbs, I'm not 100% sure I want to try it with my 900+ lb Victory, which happens to be the bike I purchased this trailer for. (UPDATE: The trailer worked well trailing my Victory Vision & 990 lb Honda Goldwing).

#2. The Cranking Mechanism:
The Cranking Mechanism needs a total revamping. Although it works, it is not easy to use, very noisy, and surely only good for a few uses before replacing an essential part. As we cranked the 600 lb bike, we found ourselves tag teaming the task. I could only imagine how tired one will be cranking a 900 lb bike. Next, the annoying squeal produced while cranking almost made me want to stop the process and never use it again. (UPDATE: Lubing the crank will take care of the above issues).
And finally, the biggest issue we found with the crank is with the brass nut the threaded bar passes through. It is being shaved away with every turn, leading us to believe that we will only have limited use of the trailer before a replacement part is needed. I'm sure the manufacture is aware of this issue because of the hex screw holding it in place. I take it is there to remove and replace the brass nut when worn.

#3 Although a motorcycle can be loaded by one person, two people are really needed to ease the burden of securing the bike for trailing.

The PRO's:

#1 This Trailer is lightweight.

#2 It's very easy to store.

#3 The actual setup and installation simple, barring the muscle work needed to crank it up.

#4 All straps and hardware needed to load and go are included with the purchase.

#5 It pulls the Motorcycle Straight, True, and Effortlessly.

#6 No additional trailer lighting needed (But I highly suggest added visibility when trailing, especially at night)

#7 It's a very useful tool when trailing to destinations that don't afford storage for conventional trailers.

Overall, on a scale of 1 - 10, I rate this product a strong 7 because it did accomplish the task it was intended for. It's just a coincident I found 7 PROs and 3 CONs🤔. With revamping to add an easier and more reliable crank, this product will get a 10... at least for a 600 lb bike. I will do another review with a 900 lb bike in the immediate future.
