West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose recently visited those affected by the violence in Murshidabad, making his way to a relief camp in Malda. What unfolded there was unexpected. He was gheraoed and faced with a chaotic situation. The incident raises serious questions about the chief minister though.

Where is Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during all this? In the aftermath of such widespread violence and displacement, shouldn't the state's chief minister be in support of the victims? While many Hindus have been forced out of their homes and left to seek shelter elsewhere, the chief minister has yet to meet with the victims or express any public solidarity.

While time was made for meetings with Kolkata’s Imams, the same concern hasn’t been shown for those suffering in Malda.
