Minister Baryomunsi Congratulates Fr. Deusdedet Birungyi on His Ordination

The Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, has congratulated Fr. Deusdedet Birungyi upon his successful ordination as a Catholic priest in the Diocese of Kabale.

Fr. Deusdedet was ordained on Saturday, October 11th, 2025, at Rushorooza Cathedral in Kabale by Rt. Rev. Callistus Rubaramira, Bishop of Kabale Diocese. He was ordained as a member of the Apostles of Jesus Priests congregation.

On Sunday, October 12th, 2025, Fr. Deusdedet celebrated his first mass and thanksgiving at Nyarungwe Playground in Kanjara Cell, Kanungu Town Council, under Makiro Parish.

Speaking during the colorful celebration, Fr. Abenayezu Gerald, the Parish Priest of Makiro, praised Fr. Deusdedet for his humility and strong spiritual foundation, noting that he was nurtured from his home parish of Makiro with guidance from his family and the wider community of Masya.

The ceremony attracted several government officials, religious leaders, and hundreds of Christians who gathered to share in the joy of this spiritual milestone. Many priests of different congregations and orders were also present to honor the occasion of the first mass and thanksgiving of Fr. Deusdedet and his sister, who was also recently received into sisterhood.

As a sign of recognition and blessing, Minister Baryomunsi presented Fr. Deusdedet with several gifts, including a Holy Bible, a Holy Rosary, two cassocks of different colors, and a generous financial contribution. The Minister also extended gifts to Fr. Deusdedet’s sister, the newly ordained Reverend Sister.

The event was filled with joy, music, and gratitude, as the people of Kanungu celebrated the ordination of one of their own—a moment of pride and thanksgiving for the entire community.
