Part of our work is to regularly discuss our day and memories. Because I make such a point of play and interpersonal interaction, grounding seems to benefit his need to regress into his own world.
It's difficult sometimes, for me, to be able to see between the six year old and the spectrum. I also am learning there is no "between", this is what makes my son who he is. So, my approach with discussing our day or memories is to keep us in the present moment with as little fooling around as possible.
In this video, my favorite is when he defines protection. However, his goodbye song is amazing.
