A spider monkey at Chester Zoo gives birth - but at eight years old, she's barely an adult herself. As her relationship with her baby worsens, her baby is put at risk and may only survive to ten days old. Can another, more experienced spider monkey mother help out?
Spider monkeys are New World monkeys belonging to the genus Ateles, part of the subfamily Atelinae, family Atelidae. Like other atelines, they are found in tropical forests of Central and South America, from southern Mexico to Brazil.
