Note that due to the Trans Pennine route upgrade (TPRU) this route is temporary amended (during part of 2025/2026) to operate as Leeds to Bradford Interchange via Brighouse avoiding Huddersfield due to Huddersfield station works. Deighton station is planned to be closed for a few years from mid 2025 to 2027 to allow for rebuilding of the station.

Services on this route usually operate hourly calling at all stations along this route. Additional services operate between Huddersfield and Deighton by Northern and TransPennine Express hourly to Leeds. Brighouse has additional Northern services calling each hour as part of the Wigan Wallgate to Leeds Calder Valley line service via Dewbury and Manchester Victoria. Halifax to Bradford Interchange is served additionally by Northern services from Manchester to Leeds, Blackpool to York and Halifax to Hull routes. Grand Central open access services operate between Brighouse and Bradford a few times a day as part of the London Kings Cross West Riding service. Bradford Forster Square is a short walk from Interchange for electric Airdale services to Leeds, Ilkley and Skipton.

The rolling stock on this route is mainly 2 carriage class 150 Sprinter trains which are diesel multiple units. Class 158 Express Sprinter, class 155 Sprinter and class 195 CAF Civity operate other Northern services along parts of this route. TransPennine Express services along parts of this route are formed of class 185 Desiro and class 802 Nova 1 units.

This route is currently entirely unelectrified. This route is mainly double track throughout with a single track linking Deighton directly with Brighouse.
