A feast for the modern-classic traction fan as diesel and electric meet at Crewe with a pair of charters leaving together.
Leading the pair away was Locomotive Services Group' Class 86, 86101 'Sir William A. Stanier FRS' with Steam Dreams 'Settle & Carlisle Railway' charter. Running at 1Z61 London Euston to Carlisle, with Class 47 47614 on the rear. 86101 was replaced by LMS Royal Scot Class 46100 'Royal Scot at Warrington Bank Quay, with 86101 continuing light engine to Carlisle to work the return leg later in the day.
Hot on the heels of the 86 was DB Cargo Class 60 60062 'Sonia', in the eye-catching 'Steel on Steel' livery, working Pathfinder Tour 'The Marsh Magician' charter. Running as 1Z30 Bristol Temple Meads to Crewe, where GB Railfreight 60076 'Dunbar' was due to be added. Due to signalling issues at Crewe the charter was diverted to Chester.
Turn up the volume for some mutual respect via the horn from the fellow drivers as they part ways.
