How to Get Rid of Thrips on Your Houseplants - Science Based Methods to Target Each Lifecycle Stage

When I first found thrips on my houseplants, I was devastated. I have always heard how horrible they are to get rid of, and I thought for sure I would lose many houseplants to them. I sprung into action, researching and watching YouTube videos to understand the best way to tackle each stage of the lifecycle. Now you don’t need to be stressed like I was; this video is here to help!

My recommended steps to get rid of thrips:
1. Isolate infected plants (put them outside if it is nice enough outside; if you are lucky then outdoor beneficial insects will take care of the problem for you)
2. Check all plants for signs of thrips
3. Manually remove live insects
4. Trim off damaged leaves
5. Spray off infected (and non-infected plants just in case) plants with water, aiming the spray perpendicular to the plant
6. Treat all plants with beneficial nematodes
7. Alternate spraying with Captain Jack’s Deadbug Brew and Neem Oil on infected plants (and non-infected plants just in case) every 5-12 days for the next couple of months

Note: I used this method on every plant I own (monsteras, calatheas, ficus, succulents, marantas, pothos, etc.) and not a single plant was harmed from the techniques I used.

You CAN do this! Now go forth and kill some thrips!
