Zenith 1933 Model 420 Radio PT2

A disappointment but; am I giving up? In my thinking right now- NO. I just put the chassis back in the console to get it out of the way because I do have other more important projects the most important being the “Virtual Organ” project I have going on for the East Troy Railroad Museum where I play the cocktail hour for the dinner train events.

It was a somewhat waste of time involved in my patching up that speaker but it was a learning experience.

I know the radio itself plays well. I will need to re-design the power supply which will involve two power resistors (value?) that will replace the number one center tapped field coil which is simply a voltage divider across the B+ and does not act as a choke. The number two field coil is acting as a choke (value?) so I will need to find something to substitute for that. I will also need to replace the audio output transformer (value?) as I think that the original that is mounted on the number one speaker has fried somewhat. Finally I will use a decent 12” PM speaker from my stash of speakers.
