RobinFeedingBabies

A robin built it's nest on top of an Arch we have on the side of our house.
A dove had done this once before and then high winds blew the nest down killing the babies so I had concerns.
It's not a great place for them to nest.
So a couple of days ago my son let me know he saw one of the four babies on the ground and then I realized it was a windy day and I knew why.
I went and looked at the baby on the ground and it seemed ok - still breathing etc...
The nest was still on the Arch, but at an angle and the three other babies were barely hanging on.
First I had to deal with the baby that fell out.
I had a spare robins nest in the backyard from earlier this spring so I grabbed it and put the baby in it and brought it to the backyard to try and decide what I should do next.
I was sitting in the backyard thinking about it and then I heard a chirp and I looked up and one of the parents was on our roof and was looking for the baby. I left the baby there and took another look at the nest and the other babies (that were still on the Arch). I could see that nest wasn't going to make it through this windy day so I had to come up with something. I took the nest down from the Arch with the other three babies in it and brought it in the backyard with the other baby.
I got a Ziploc container I had and drilled holes in the bottom of it to let rain water go through - in case it rained.
Then I drilled a hole on each side and using a tie rap I secured it to the top of the Arch. At this point the parents were swooping down at me a bit, even though the babies were in the backyard still, but they weren't very aggressive and I was able to get it secured pretty easily. Then I went and grabbed the nest with the three babies in it, and grabbed the 4th baby and put it in there and then put the nest and babies in the Ziploc container. The parents were a little cautious at first, but it's been a few days and all is going well.
