Vintage 1950's Arvin Space Heater Restoration. Will it work?

Flea market find with a busted plug, so I wasn't able to verify whether or not it even worked before I dug into it. There's a reason why they don't make space heaters like this anymore; it would probably burn the house down if used regularly. There is no on/off switch - plugging it in was the only way designed to turn it on from the factory.
