Blade Nano CPX S2 Restore - Desktop Test Hop

I scored a pair of well-used Nano CPX 3D birds online for $60. One was complete except for the forward body mount posts were snapped off and the second has no posts at all and needed a few fasteners and little bits.

I have a couple of new S2 frames on the way, but I managed to repair one with new front body mount posts made from 1.5mm carbon fiber rod bonded to the frame with E6000 adhesive (good stuff!). Oiled the motor bushings, used DeOxit F5 on the linear servos and checked everything else.


SO THIS VIDEO is my first off-the-ground test to see if repaired Bird #1 works, flown right off my build desk in my little work corner . Despite my sloppy flying it felt quite stable, and I didn't crash into anything.

Some tweaking will be in order. I used the setting for my original Nano CPX to fly the S2 with, and I am not sure of they were correct. I THINK they were OK. Collective felt really touchy.

NOTE that the newer S2 version has a SAFE mode for beginners, but it was left inactive and all flights are made in manual mode, including this one in the video.

FLIGHT RESULTS: Felt good. I got low to the ground at one point but somehow did not hit anything and managed to get back to altitude without incident.

Not sure how much life is left in the brushed motor, but I have a spare Nano motor stashed away somewhere if needed, along with one of the discontinued Horizon Hobby brushless upgrade kits for the original Nano. That should work with the S2 too after a motor plug change.

I plan to try to mount the "works" from the second S2 with the body shell of an Esky F150 I found online and ordered. Dunno if it will work, but I will have fun trying to make it so.
