► ABOUT THIS ADVENTURE:
Ryan and his team arrive in the city of Davao, meeting local people and getting a feel for travel and life in the Philippines before heading south to climb the country’s highest mountain, Mount Apo (3,146m). In the Philippines, Mt. Apo is the highest point, making it the Grand Father of all Philippine Mountains and the dream mountain of every Filipino mountaineer.

► LOCATION BACKGROUND:
Mount Apo is the highest mountain peak in the Philippines, with an elevation of 2,954 meters (9,692 feet) above sea level. A large solfataric, dormant stratovolcano, it is part of the Apo-Talomo Mountain Range of Mindanao island. Mount Apo is situated on the tripartite border of Davao City, Davao del Sur, and Cotabato; its peak is visible from Davao City 45 kilometers (28 miles) to the northeast, Digos 25 kilometers (16 miles) to the southeast, and Bansalan 20 kilometers (12 miles) to the west. Mount Apo is a protected area and is the centerpiece of Mount Apo Natural Park.
