There's a scene in The Passion of the Christ that often gets overlooked amid the film's intense portrayal of crucifixion and resurrection. It's a quiet moment showing Jesus at work as a carpenter, building a table while his mother watches. She sits down to test it and jokes, "This is never going to catch on." It's a simple scene, yet it reveals something profound: before Jesus became a rabbi and the Savior of the world, he was a maker. He worked with his hands. He created.

This detail isn't accidental. Scripture tells us Jesus was a carpenter, the son of a carpenter. The original Greek word could mean woodworker, general contractor, mason, or handyman. The specificity matters less than the principle: Jesus was a creator who took raw materials and fashioned something useful from them.

And this echoes something fundamental about God's character from the very beginning.
