I return to Yellow Patch - Curtis Island after 25 years. Yellow Patch is an inlet on the western side of the north-eastern tip of Curtis Island. Yellow Patch is known for its unmistakably bright yellow sand hill (a spectacular backdrop) and once you’ve navigated the mouth of the estuary system, it offers a comfortable anchorage for cruising boats. The channel into the anchorage is not marked and always on the move due to the sand flats constantly moving. This video does contain drone footage of the channel, filmed at the time of making this video. The water directly in front of the yellow sand hill is quite shallow. However, I did anchor as close as I felt it safe, as you can see in the drone footage and the thumbnail for this video. Although only accessible by boat, there is a camping spot on a sheltered beach on the eastern end of the yellow sand hill.
