Meet Lynden Rader, a retired Navy Supply Corps captain. His Navy journey began when he joined the Navy Reserves during a summer in college, attending a two-week boot camp at the Naval Training Center (NTC). In October 1958, he was commissioned as a Reserve Navy captain and later decided to pursue a full-time career in the Navy, accepting a position in the Navy Supply Corps. Rader was sent back to NTC, where he became a Navy Exchange Officer. The Exchange operation at NTC was larger than most other stations, and he was also responsible for managing the enlisted club. After retiring in 1985, Rader chose to stay in San Diego. Today, he believes Liberty Station is a wonderful transformation of the former Naval Training Center and enjoys returning to relive old memories.
