This is it — the final stretch of the Race to New Years.
By the time this episode starts, I’d already spent two straight days at the shop thrashing on the truck. No sleep. Little food. Barely any water. I was 44 hours awake, completely fried, and trying to finish the last few things before loading up and heading to the desert.
We button up the exhaust, get the reservoirs mounted, and at that point there’s only one thing left to do — fill the system with coolant. That’s when everything starts to go sideways. Coolant boiling, temps climbing, and it looks like a major issue at the worst possible moment.
After chasing the problem, we finally realize the fan was never wired up. Once it’s fixed, we get the truck running cool enough to move under its own power, load up, and make it out to the desert.
The video ends with hot laps and the first real payoff after weeks of thrashing.
This one was way too close.
