The Peak District Derby 🔥 | Matlock Town vs Buxton FC | Markovitz Cup 2025

The Peak District Derby returned with a bang as Matlock Town hosted fierce rivals Buxton FC in the Markovitz Cup! A special atmosphere under the lights with plenty of passion from both sets of supporters.

🎤 Before the game, I caught up with Matlock manager Adam Clayton, who spoke about the season ahead and facing Buxton in one of the region's biggest rivalries.

The Buxton faithful turned out in serious numbers — noisy, proud, and relentless in their support throughout the night. Hats off to them!

⚽ On the pitch, Matlock started well, but Buxton struck first from a corner and doubled their lead just before half-time, capitalising on a defensive lapse.
Matlock hit back early in the second half with a goal from a trademark long throw-in, but Buxton responded with two more to take a commanding 4-1 win.

While Buxton claimed the bragging rights this time, it was the atmosphere, passion, and people that made this a derby to remember.
