The TRAGIC Pregnancies Of Anne Boleyn
Anne Boleyn is remembered today for being the Second Wife of King Henry VIII. Famously she met her end inside the walls of the Tower of London, being beheaded by a French Swordsman, brought over from France especially to complete the bloody yet reliable job. Anne’s downfall is incredibly tragic and is at the hands of her husband and his key advisor Thomas Cromwell who was appointed in charge of getting the King out of his second marriage. Henry’s attention had switched to Jane Seymour one of Anne’s ladies in waiting, and she was pregnant in the early weeks of January 1536. But then tragedy struck and she miscarried a child that many thought was going to be a boy. This would have been a drastic kick in the teeth for Anne, as at the time the King had been discussing divorcing her, but no-one would have predicted her bloody end inside the Tower. Anne’s legacy was that she gave birth to a daughter who became the ruler that her father dreamed of, Elizabeth I being the Queen who ruled over a golden age, and who defeated the Spanish Armada. But Henry’s obsession for a male heir would also contribute to the death and execution of Anne Boleyn. But what is the story of her pregnancies, and how did they lead to the King becoming incredibly frustrated with her?
