Mitsubishi FTO New 2026 Concept Car, AI Design

The Mitsubishi FTO is a Japanese sports coupe produced from 1994 to 2000, known for its distinctive styling and engaging driving experience. "FTO" stands for "Fresh Touring Origination." While it shared some underpinnings with the Galant, it was a smaller, front-wheel-drive performance car.

It came with various engine options, most notably a 2.0-liter DOHC 24-valve V6, with the top-tier GPX model featuring Mitsubishi's MIVEC variable valve timing system, producing around 200 horsepower. Transmission choices included a 5-speed manual or the INVECS-II automatic with a manual mode. Despite being front-wheel drive, the FTO was praised for its sharp handling and responsive chassis. It even won the Japanese Car of the Year award in 1994-1995. The FTO gained a cult following, especially as a "grey import" in markets outside Japan.
