Less than one year since President Trump returned to office, infighting among the GOP has reached a fever pitch as many ask whether non-MAGA conservatism has a home in the party. Former GOP congressman David Jolly, now a Democratic candidate for governor of Florida, warns against “playing into the cult of personality of Trump and Trumpism.” Joe Walsh, another former GOP congressman who is now a registered Democrat, says that traditional conservatism is “not coming back in our lifetime” and that “this is a MAGA party.”
