Tokyo's Parks, Gardens, Temples, and Shrines

Join us on a full day adventure in the bustling city of Tokyo, Japan. Our day began with Alan and our daughter Avery visiting Hibiya Park in Chiyoda City, a hidden gem that is not as popular for cherry blossoms as other locations in Tokyo, but still offers a serene and beautiful experience. The cherry blossoms were not yet in bloom, but this morning adventure allowed Avery to get some of her energy out.

We then went Shibuya, taking two trains - one subway and one above the ground train. Navigating the complex train system in Tokyo can be a bit daunting, but with Google Maps and our new Pasmo Passports in hand, we were able to breeze through the stations hassle-free.

Our next stop was Kiddy Land, a vibrant retail shop that boasts a wide selection of Japanese and American toys. From classic characters like Snoopy to adorable Hello Kitty merchandise, Kiddy Land had something for everyone to enjoy. Avery enjoyed all the stuffies there.

We then strolled through Takeshita Street in Harajuku, a popular hub for trendy and quirky shops that cater to the youthful and fashionable crowd. The colorful and eccentric clothes and accessories on display were a sight to behold, offering a unique shopping experience unlike any other.

After a quick pit stop at IKEA for a breather and lunch, we made our way to Meiji Shrine in Shibuya, a serene Shinto shrine dedicated to the spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife. The peaceful surroundings and spiritual ambience provided a moment of tranquility amidst the bustling cityscape.

As the day drew to a close, we treated ourselves to a delicious meal at Tonkatsu Maisen Aoyama, where we got the best tonkatsu we’ve ever tasted. The crispy breaded pork cutlet was a true culinary delight that left us craving for more.

Finally, we wrapped up our day by collecting our belongings back at the Andaz Tokyo hotel and hopping into a taxi to head over to Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta. Excitement filled the air as we looked forward to our stay at this magical location, anticipating the adventures that awaited us the next day.
