[Seoul]염천교 옆 카톨릭 찐 성지ㅣ서울로 7017, 벤치마킹을 하려면 더 멋지게 해야지!

서소문역사공원은 현재 공원으로 조성되어 있으나 원래는 ’서소문 밖 네거리 처형지‘로 구한말 서소문 전투의 군인 등 사회개혁 세력들뿐만 아니라 신유박해부터 병인박해까지 많은 천주교인이 이곳에서 처형되었습니다.

처형된 천주교인 중 44명이 성인이 되어 국내 최대의 천주교 성지로도 자리 잡았습니다.
조선시대의 사형집행은 많은 사람에게 경각심을 주어 범죄를 예방하려는 목적에서 사람들의 왕래가 잦은 곳에서 행해졌으며, 서소문 밖도 이러한 이유에서 서울의 주요한 형장으로 지정되었습니다.
이곳 형장의 위치는 서소문 밖의 비탈진 언덕길 아래, 즉 현재의 서소문역사공원 옆에 있던 이교(나무로 다리를 놓고 흙으로 덮어 흙다리라고도 함)의 남쪽 백사장이었던 것으로 알려졌습니다.
2013년부터 서울특별시 중구에서 전시기념관과 추모 공간이 있는 ‘서소문성지역사박물관’을 건립하여 일반시민에게 개방하고 있습니다.

두번째 장소는 서울역 고가를 이용해서 공원으로 조성한 ‘서울로 7017‘입니다.
서울로 7017은 '1970년 만들어진 서울역고가를 공원화해 2017년 5월 29일에인근 보행로와 연결해 개장한 곳입니다.

오직 보행자만이 다닐 수 있는 보행 전용길로, 고가 화물 노선을 공원으로 재탄생시킨 미국 뉴욕의 ‘하이라인’을 벤치마킹한 곳입니다.

Seosomun Historical Park is currently a park, but it was originally the ‘Seosomun Outside Intersection Execution Site’. Not only soldiers from the Battle of Seosomun in the late Joseon Dynasty and other social reformers, but also many Catholics from the Sinyu Persecution to the Byeongin Persecution were executed here.

Of the executed Catholics, 44 became adults and it has become the largest Catholic holy site in Korea.
During the Joseon Dynasty, executions were carried out in places with a lot of people coming and going in order to prevent crimes by giving many people a sense of alertness, and the outside of Seosomun was also designated as a major execution site in Seoul for this reason.
It is known that the execution site was located on the southern white sand beach of Igyo (a wooden bridge covered with dirt) next to the current Seosomun Historical Park, below the steep hill road outside Seosomun.
Since 2013, the ‘Seosomun Holy Site Museum’ with an exhibition hall and memorial space has been opened to the general public in Jung-gu, Seoul.

The second location is ‘Seoulro 7017’, which was created as a park using the Seoul Station overpass.

Seoulro 7017 is a place that was opened on May 29, 2017 by connecting the Seoul Station overpass, which was built in 1970, to a nearby pedestrian path.

It is a pedestrian-only path that only pedestrians can use, and it is a place that benchmarks the ‘High Line’ in New York, USA, which was reborn as a park from an elevated freight line.
