Get ready, because today we're diving headfirst into the untamed beauty of the north of Western Australia, specifically two of its absolute crown jewels: the laid-back paradise of Broome and the epic, rugged adventure that is the Gibb River Road!

First up, Broome! Oh man, where do I even begin? Imagine endless stretches of pristine white sand, contrasted with the most vibrant turquoise water you've ever seen. We're talking about Cable Beach, people! And you HAVE to experience a sunset camel ride here – it's iconic for a reason. The colours that explode across the sky are absolutely mind-blowing.

Beyond the beach, Broome is a melting pot of culture and history. Go explore Stairway to the moon with its fascinating reflections on the rippled waves of a nearby beach, also, I caught a movie under the stars at the historic Sun Pictures. It's a place that just oozes chill vibes and unforgettable moments.

But if you're looking for something a bit more wild, a bit more rugged, then buckle up, because the Gibb River Road is calling! This isn't just a drive; it's an experience. We're talking 660 kilometres of pure Kimberley magic, best tackled in a 4WD, trust me. And who would be crazy enough to tow their caravan up this corrugated excuse for a dried up river bed? Oh, that would be me!

Along this legendary track, you'll discover some of the most incredible gorges and swimming holes on the planet. I hiked through the massive limestone walls of Bell Gorge, where you can spot freshwater crocodiles basking in the sun. I plunged into the refreshing waters of Galvans Gorge, and stared with mystical intrigue at the ancient Aboriginal rock art at My, Garden of Eden.

Every day on the Gibb was an adventure – from tackling river crossings, crashing my drone to camping under the most incredible starry skies you'll ever witness. And if you make it to El Questro, you're in for a treat with thermal springs, more gorges, and just boundless natural beauty. This trip truly gets you off the grid and into the heart of the Australian outback.
