Eclampsia occurs when preeclampsia gets complicated with tonic-clonic seizures or Grand mal seizures.
In this video occurrence in different periods, pathophysiology, signs of impending eclampsia, and phases of fits are explained.
It is most likely to appear in the antenatal period in 50% condition during the 3rd trimester, and the signs of impending eclampsia are headache, hyperreflexia, and proteinuria that create 80% & more chance to develop eclampsia.
Phases & Stages of Eclampsia are-
1. Premonitory / Prodrome & Pre-Ictal Stages
2. Tonic stage- 20-30 sec.
3. Clonic Stage - 1-4 min.
4. Coma/ Post-Ictal Stage
